Prince William Living just did a great article (link below) with pictures from the book signing at Books-a-Million. The gentleman standing next to me in the second picture is Brian Fischer, another local author. He has written a hard cover book on finance titled: "Exiting the Matrix". It is on Amazon, and looks very intriguing. He may be posting on the website.

Great website! I was doing a book signing Saturday at BAM, Books-a-Million, in Potomac Mills, (now there's a powerful acronym), and met another local author. Jamey M. Long writes children's books, and promotes literacy. I will provide this link to him, and will try to attend the next gathering. Thank you for making such an auspicious start to a promising group.

Very nice! I had no idea Stills made the rails (more) famous. How did you find that out?

BTW, I like WBR better for an acronym, though I generally frown on acronyms for outside consumption. Too confusing, vague and dismissible.

I've recently come across Francine's work after reading her essay in Going Hungry: Writers on Self-denial and Overcoming Anorexia and was facinated by her life's story. I've odered some of her books and am eagerly awaiting their arrival. I will have to look for this book as well.

Right... not nearly as much of a hoopla for those of us who did not believe. Though I'll confess there was that part of me that believes that anything is possible sitting in the back of my mind, tapping her foot all night. Pete, why not propose an annual "last day of earth" holiday where we all do whatever it is that we would do if we truly believed it was the last day of earth. Which is probably what we should be doing anyway :-)

I think I have enough rejections to wallpaper my office! As you say, some matter more than others. For the most part I just file them away and send off something else, but once in a while it affects me. This year my big collapse happened after a well-respected agent had contacted me (he'd read a story he'd liked), and asked to see a longer work... I only had something in very early stages and made the mistake of sending it off. Well, that's a long story, mostly I wanted to say congratulations on Sirenland, and I'll be seeing you there!
